The north coast locally refers to the coastline north of Durban. The coastline stretching from Umhlanga to Umdloti is referred to as the Sugar Coast. Umhlanga has recently undergone much development towards the "Ridge" area. Umhlanga has become the focus of development in the greater Durban area with many businesses relocating from Durban to the North Coast. This mixture of stylish office parks, hotels, offices, apartment blocks and luxury homes with magnificent sea views will fill the space down to the coastal freeway, with improved links to the existing Umhlanga Rocks beachfront and the area still affectionately known as the village.
This is one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world with golden sandy beaches stretching northwards. Situated on the east cost of South Africa just north of Durban the warm waters of the Indian Ocean draw visitors from all over the world.
Kindlewood is ideally situated just southwest of the renowned Mount Edgecombe Country Club Estate and just minutes from Gateway. Situated between Umhlanga and Umdloti, Mt Edgecombe is within quick and easy reach of both areas. Shopping, night life, beach life, water sport, inland excursions and adventure sports are therefore just minutes away. With the development of two championship-standard golf courses, Mount Edgecombe has become one of the favoured places in which to live, relax, play golf and enjoy the country club style of living. Tucked away in the rolling hills of KwaZulu Natal's Sugar Coast you can experience the tranquility of country living while being a mere 15 minutes away from the city of Durban.
Sibaya Casino

Beaches
Umhlanga like the rest of the KwaZulu Natal coastline boasts subtropical beaches on the warm Indian Ocean. The KwaZulu Natal coast enjoys fantastic, warm weather all year round allowing visitors to enjoy the superb golden beaches any time of the year. The excellent swimming and bathing conditions make these beaches a popular destination for local and international visitors.
Mount Edgecombe Country Club
In addition to boasting two unique championship golf courses, Mount Edgecombe Country Club also provides world-class conference rooms, restaurants, expert golf tuition, practice facilities, tennis, squash and bowling clubs. The Mount Edgecombe Country Club Estates has been acclaimed for many years as a premier golfing estate of Southern Africa.
Virginia Flight School
Founded in 1989 by Clyde Walker the Virginia Flight School is now owned and run by Bruce Scott. This dedicated team of instructors pride themselves on the high standard of instruction that clients have come to expect from the professional yet personal one-on-one training sessions. Here the training program starts with a private pilot licence and can lead all the way up to an airline transport pilot license.
Natal Sharks Board
Located in Umhlanga Rocks the Natal Sharks Board is the only organisation of its kind in the world. By visiting the display hall visitors can view a large variety of lifelike replicas of sharks, fish and rays. Visitors are also treated to an audio-visual presentation followed by a shark dissection several times a week, for the more adventurous there are early morning sighting trips out to sea.
Moses Mabhida Stadium
With a planned capacity of between 70,000 and 80,000 people the Moses Mabhida Stadium is one of the new world class sporting venues in South Africa. While initially built to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup (including one of the semi-finals) the stadium will include an athletic track. It is hoped that this stadium will be used to bid for future Rugby World Cups or multi-sport events.
King Shaka International Airport
With the construction of King Shaka International Airport due for completion in time for the FIFA World cup in 2010 the whole of the North Coast will become more accessible. The King Shaka International Airport will have a much longer runway than that of the current Durban International Airport enabling larger aircraft to land resulting in more direct international flights to this region.
